Book Title: Family Trust by Peter Wilson
Category Adult Fiction (18 +), 211 pages
Genrethriller / family drama / strong female protaganists
Publisher:  Peter Wilson
Release Date: April 26, 2024
Content Rating: PG-13. There are F words as one character in particular has a potty mouth. Not sexually explicit swearing. There's quite a few murders in the book, but not graphic. A bit of romance, but nothing beyond PG activity.

A well-written, smartly plotted drama with strong, memorable characters and a good dollop of humour. Very enjoyable! - The Wishing Shelf

About the Book

Mel is having a bad day. Her would be assassin is dead on a hotel floor and she doesn’t know who to turn to. Her ex David, is the love of her life, but wouldn’t understand that the attempt on her life was just another chapter to add to her family’s dark past.

Family Trust is a fast paced journey through the generations of a wealthy Australian family, who play by a different rule book.

My Review

Family Trust is Fast Paced and Well-Developed. The book jumps right into the story and continues the pace to the end. While it initially felt like it was going to be too dialogue driven, the writing style was actually very effective in both divulging family secrets and plot twists--and in developing both the characters and the various story line elements. The story is light and easy to read, the pace is fast, but never confusing or unbalanced, and the plot twists and characters are quite engaging and entertaining.
Wilson Packs A Lot of Family History and Twists into a Fast-Paced Novel.  The story jumps about a bit as the book tells stories across generations of the family, but it remains very well-organized with every side plot, supporting character, and revelation adding to the overall development of Mel's primary story. The novel flows very smoothly, with intentional scenes and hidden family histories, that create an intricate story without becoming heavy or dull. There is never a point in the story where the novel doesn't flow well or engage with secrets, humor or a little romance.
Would I Recommend Family Trust by Peter Wilson? When you finish this novel, it feels like you've read a long, family saga--but, you've spent only a few hours. The author packs a lot of story and character development into a very relatable and easy-to-read book. I didn't love Mel's character initially--and I wasn't a huge fan of the ending--but, Mel grew on me after a few chapters and the story really ended just as it should. If you enjoy a complicated, family drama with a variety of stories and plot twists, Wilson's writing style will not disappoint here.
