My Review
The Author Gives an Easy to Read, Easy to Understand Diet Breakdown. Rather than suggesting a preferred diet plan--the author helps readers understand some of the basics of a healthy lifestyle and diet and the pros, cons, ins, and outs of many of the popular diets and tools available (including online/app/digital ones!) The simple, easy-to-read format flows well--allowing busy readers the ease of reading a section or two at a time or looking for a diet type or subject in the table of contents. I loved that the author broke down each diet plan into a research/experience-based summary that presented the critical details needed to consider for an individual's lifestyle and needs.
Little Book with a Lot of Information. The author does a beautiful job condensing a lot of beneficial information and details into a short space. She gives readers the "high points" and points to consider on so many plans and diet tools--and does so in a way that really does give the reader a lot of information to consider as they determine if a program should be brought into their lifestyle. I loved the additional ideas related to healthy eating and long-term weight management that the author shared along the way as well.
Would I Recommend The Great Weight Debate by Amy Newman Shapiro? This book is one of those books that I will keep on the bookshelf, share and refer to often. After reading Shapiro's thoughts and insights, I may even be motivated to pursue a couple of options that she presented--or revisited them with a slightly different mindset. I definitely recommend this book to anyone feeling discouraged by dieting! It is loaded with resources and information to read quickly and use when beginning to make diet and lifestyle changes.
