Grace Parrish made two mistakes when she fell in love. She forgot her mother’s stories of segregation. “Don’t love a white man, Grace. It’s too hard and he’ll break your heart.” Even worse, she fell in love with her best friend’s husband, Peter. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU is a poignant story about the foundation of marriage: love, honor, and fidelity—and the heartache of unrequited love. The must-read story shows how the power of love can overcome adversity, the pain of loss, and rejection because of racial heritage. Grace honors her best friend Lori’s marriage and refuses to pursue an affair, yet her heart will not allow her to love another. The bond of Peter’s love continues after Lori’s passing. During a chance meeting between Peter and Grace, much to their surprise,
a spark ignites that causes them each to wonder, “Could it be that we’ve been given a second chance to fall in love?”
My Review
I Will Always Love You Tells a Life Story. As I always say--I am not a romance novel fan. Initially, I was hesitant to pick up this book because the book blurb made it seem that a likely misguided romance was the story's focus. I was so happy that I gave the book a chance as it is much more of a life story built upon love, loss, faith, hope, and redemption of sorts. Readers will watch a family's story unfold over the years and become absorbed into the characters and details that formed the stories.
The Writing Style Lends Well to the Novel. I will admit--I was confused at first as the story does not seem to begin with Grace. While I wasn't sure where the story was going initially--or how the characters related to the book that I thought I was reading--I loved reading the scenes and watching the characters, and the storyline grow and change. As readers move through the parts of the book, the makings of the "main" character's life story come together through generations. It may have taken me a bit to settle into the story that was developing--yet, I loved the author's ability to pull me into the lives of the characters she presented.
Would I Recommend I Will Always Love You by Ashley Lee London? This book is a little darker than I had expected at times--but, it is a blend of darkness and light that romance and women's fiction fans will enjoy. With relatable characters and a well-developed story flow--the author creates a story that will hold the readers' attention and hearts from the beginning to the end. This book is more of a life story than a simple love story--so readers who prefer a little more real-world and a less instant romance should enjoy this one!
